Sooner Scholar
Mrs. Penny Cantley enters The University of Oklahoma as a Sooner Scholar. Mrs. Cantley graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. Her experiences include teaching special education at the elementary and secondary level where she focused on improving reading proficiency for students considered a high-risk for school failure and as a special education teacher in Japan. For the past three years, Mrs. Cantley has taught Reading and English on the secondary level in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Her research interests include studying reading proficiency’s impact on the postschool outcomes of students with disabilities and how inclusion in our public school system can be improved. Mrs. Cantley is especially interested in improving reading skills for secondary students.

Being part of The University of Oklahoma and the College of Education’s Zarrow Center is an opportunity I am extremely excited about and I look forward to the wonderful experiences the next four years hold for me at the university.”
