Bob Walden, Ph.D

Robert J. Walden, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Special Education Program, Department of Teacher Education, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Dr. Walden received his Ph.D. in Special Education from The University of Oklahoma at Norman. He also holds a M.Ed. in special education and BBA in accounting. He has taught students with learning disabilities in public schools at both elementary and secondary levels.

While at The University of Oklahoma, Dr. Walden was a recipient of a Will Rogers ’s scholarship and The Zarrow Center Flow Award. He has conducted research in goal attainment for college students with disabilities and team-teaching at the secondary level in public schools. He was involved in the South Central Regional Technology Educational Consortium (SCR.TEC), a federally funded multi-state consortium involved in the research, development and dissemination of educational technologies. While completing his doctoral program he led the formation and incorporation of a not-for-profit Oklahoma corporation, TECH CORPS OKLAHOMA, an affiliate of TECH CORPS Inc. a national corporation of volunteers involved in support of technology implementation in public schools.

As an employee of the Zarrow Center for Learning Enrichment, at The University of Oklahoma, he was involved in various research and development projects. Dr. Walden has presented at local, state, national and international conventions on various special education topics and served as a reader for state challenge grant proposals for the state of Oklahoma and presentation proposals for various conferences. He has co-authored Teaching college students with learning disabilities goal attainment skills (in preparation) and Take Action: Making goals happen (submitted). In Heward, W., Educational Children: An Introduction to Special Education,(7th ed.). Upper Saddle River NJ: Prentice Hall/Merrill.
