Student Oklahoma Education Association
The Student Oklahoma Education Association is a state-wide organization for education majors that is committed to fostering learning and providing community service.
SOEA is affiliated with the Oklahoma Education Association (OEA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
Participation in Charity Events/Service Projects
- Food Drive in November- We collect canned and bagged foods to donate to the needy.
- Adopt a Child in December- We choose a poverty stricken family in the OKC metro and donate educational Christmas presents to its children.
- Read Across America in February
- Big Event in March- We volunteer for an education-related community service project.
- Outreach to Teach in March- We clean, paint, landscape and generally improve an underserved school in the OKC metro.
Special opportunities
- Information about job fairs (Local and State-wide) presented at meetings
- Guest lecturers at meetings
- Information about college events (Such as the Collings Hall construction and building dedication) presented at meetings
- Leadership positions in SOEA! (Officers and Committees)
- Represent your College by helping out with the College of Education float in the Homecoming Parade on October 31st, 2009
Networking within SOEA
- Meeting and getting to know other students in the college
- Receiving counseling and advice from upperclassmen about the college and classes.
- Help locating advising and the computer Lab after the Collings Hall move.
- Advice about the admissions process.
- Building relationships with professors, sponsors and the Dean’s office

is an undergraduate student at the University of Oklahoma in the

McClendon Honors College. She is set to complete her language arts
education degree in the spring of 2011. Christine is the President of
the University of Oklahoma branch of the Student Oklahoma Education
Association. She has been a member of SOEA since the spring of 2009.
