Homecoming Parade
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008
The College of Education is involved with Homecoming. We went and got books from the Scholastic Warehouse. We were not able to make a big float but we wanted to try and do something for the parade. We decided to go with the storybook theme and decorate our golf cart. We thought about how we could decorate the golf cart. Finally we decided on Chicka Chicka Boomer Boomer. The back of the golf cart was turned into a coconut tree. During the parade we handed out free children's books and candy to the children. It is awesome to see the children's faces when you hand them a book. The parents and children were excited that they got books. I hope that the children read the books that we handed out!!!

Where have the years gone?!?!?

Today was bitter sweet. I went to the graduation gear up at the Union and ordered my cap and gown. I knew that I was going to graduate in December, but it has really hit me over the past couple weeks. It seems like only yesterday I moved into the dorms and got lost on the first day of classes.
Last week I had my last advising appointment. We signed up for graduation and filled out a piece of paper that would say how we wanted our name to appear on our diploma. I am sad because not all of my friends and classmates get to graduate with me. Some of the girls in my classes have some other classes that they need to take before they can graduate. We also filled out a piece of paper saying where we preferred to do our internship. I will start interning in an elementary school in January.
I'm sad that my college years are coming to an end, but I can't wait to see where I get to intern. I'm excited to meet all of the teachers and students that I will get to interact with daily. My classes have had a huge impact on me and my philosophy of teaching. I will take the knowledge that I have learned in my classes and apply it towards my internship.
