This course will introduce you to the core principles, methods, and practices of the closely related disciplines of program and project management, and then develop your understanding of how those principles and practices are subject to adaptation. Topics will include: defining the field, contexts and influences, critical analysis, pitfalls and protections, managing people, managing time, managing other resources, troubleshooting, problem-solving, evaluation, and project reporting. The principles and methods of this course apply equally well to project management in the college, the local school system, the corporate setting, and the community organization.

Additional Information:

EIPT 6173 is offered each fall semester. Though not a technical prerequisite, 6143 generally should precede EIPT 6173. It is recommended that the student have some background in communication and organizational theories to be most successful in this course.
