Interests :
I joined the OU faculty in August 2001 after operating a private clinical and consulting practice for many years. I am currently the Director of the Counseling Psychology Training Clinic, a position which allows me to stay close to my roots in clinical practice.
My research, teaching, and clinical interests have been shaped by my feminist orientation and my counseling experience with children and adolescents, victims/survivors of violence and abuse, individuals who have perpetrated abuse, and individuals with diverse social identities. Specifically, my teaching interests include feminist and relational counseling theories; counseling of children and adolescents; diversity and social justice issues; and counselor training. Feminist and relational models, especially the Relational-Cultural model, and a social justice perspective inform much of my teaching and supervision.
My primary research interests are in the areas of at-risk youth, particularly delinquent behavior and sexual aggression in girls; diversity issues, including sexual diversity; and sociocultural influences on relational development and gender-role development.
