The Department of Educational Psychology offers degree programs at the master's and doctoral levels in Counseling, Instructional Psychology and Technology, and Special Education. In addition, a teacher education program leading to a bachelor of science and teacher certification is offered in Special Education.

Mission Statement

The department is committed to developing and disseminating new knowledge through research and scholarly activity, delivering quality instruction and professional training, and pursuing research and training opportunities at the junctures of the disciplines within the department.

The Counseling Psychology program is based on a developmental scientific professional model of training which involves early and continuous exposure to the integration of science and practice, and extensive hands-on training. 


The Instructional Psychology and Technology program integrates the fields of educational psychology and instructional technology as the foundation for a comprehensive, multifaceted approach to the study of learning and instruction. 

The Special Education program seeks to improve educational and community living outcomes for people with disabilities and their families through the development and dissemination of new knowledge, the provision of high quality educational experiences related to personnel preparation, and a commitment to provide service and leadership to the field of education.
