Master's Degree

 
    The purpose of the master's program in bilingual education is to advance the student's understanding of limited English proficiency students and the instructional strategies necessary in teaching these students.

  • This program has a limited enrollment and is offered via cohort groups.
Core (11 hrs minimum) Studies in Teaching and Learning (3 hrs)
Studies in Cultural Diversity (2-3 hrs)
Research (6 hrs)
Research Synthesis (0-3 hrs)

Specialization (20 hrs minimum)

Specialization (15 hrs)

EDUC 5910 Theory and Practice in Bilingual Education (3 hrs)
EDUC 5940 Language Acquisition (3 hrs)
MLL/G 4813 Techniques of Teaching Second Language (3 hrs)
EDUC 5920 Internship/Evaluation in Bilingual Education (3 hrs)
LING/G 4353 Grammar: Morphology and Syntax (3 hrs) OR
LING 5333 Topics in Linguistics (Linguistics for Teachers ) (3 hrs)

Electives (6 hrs)
Coursework in any of the following areas: English, social studies, mathematics, science, early childhood, reading, elementary, and secondary Education, as approved by the adviser.
