Counseling Student Association

The Counseling Student Association is an organization of students enrolled in Counseling and Counseling Psychology Programs at the University of Oklahoma. Students from all three programs (School Counseling, Community Counseling, and Counseling Psychology) vote to elect officers for this organization during the fall semester of each year.

The Counseling Student Association has provided a number of services to the members' programs. These have typically included, but have not been limited to, organization of doctoral and masters interviews, providing a snack bar for students and faculty in the clinic, and organizing fund raisers to raise money for "extras" at the clinic.

Diversity Appreciation Group

Diversity Appreciation Group (DAG) is a part of the Counseling Student Association. Its main objective is to create a forum in which we can explore and discuss our beliefs, values and behaviors in relation to others who are different from us in terms of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical and mental abilities, socio-economic status, and other differences. DAG recognizes the discrimination and prejudice faced by the above-mentioned groups and seeks to eliminate such discrimination and prejudice by increasing understanding and appreciation of issues related to these groups. To achieve this goal, DAG initiates a variety of projects, such as speaker's nights, multicultural events, diversity bulletin boards, and diversity research archives, and works actively with faculty, staff and students in the counseling psychology program to ensure an inclusive environment for students and clients of diverse backgrounds. It is the hope of DAG that by examining our beliefs, values, and behaviors, we can provide a better quality of services to the people with whom we work.
