Hi. My name is Katie Stone and I am a senior at the University of Oklahoma. I am an Early Childhood Education major. With this major I can teach Pre-School through third grade. I love helping children learn. Words cannot describe what it feels like to see a child finally learn something that they have been working on for a while. I graduate in December and will intern in the spring. I can't wait to go out into the classroom and teach for a full semester.
I was Sooner Born in Oklahoma. I graduated from Putnam City Original High School in 2004. Upon graduation I knew that I wanted to go to the University of Oklahoma, but I was undecided on a major. When I came to OU, I started working at a daycare. It became obvious to me right away that I wanted to work with children so I declared a major in Early Childhood Education.
Scrapbooking, spending time with friends and family, going to the lake, and watching OU football are a few of the things that I enjoy doing when I am not in class. This summer I am a nanny for two girls. They keep me on my toes and there is never a dull moment with them.
Over the past few years I have been involved in many activities on campus. Freshman year I was floor president. Being the floor president opened my eyes to all of the activities on campus. We participated in the Big Event and held a Murder Mystery dinner. I was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society for freshman. Junior year I was inducted into the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Education National Honor Society. I got involved with Kappa Delta Pi and became historian for the Honor Society. I also am co-chair for the Dean's Student Advisory Committee. I believe that getting involved is important. You can't make a difference if you don't get involved.
My experiences at OU have been great. I feel well prepared and ready to go out into the world and teach young children.
