Endowed Scholarships

Endowed scholarships are designed to provide permanent awards honoring an individual, company, organization, or foundation.  The endowment is permanent and is carefully invested to provide income for scholarships. The principal is never spent and so continues in perpetuity as a legacy and heritage for the future.

Endowed Scholarships are often given without restrictions, allowing the College flexibility in meeting the most critical needs of our students. Donors also can establish the guidelines governing the awarding of a scholarship, allowing for scholarships to benefit particular program areas, or students from certain backgrounds, or those who meet certain academic standards.

Establishing an endowed scholarship can be accomplished with a one-time gift that would generate enough return to fund a scholarship award. For example, an immediate gift with a minimum of $30,000 would fund an annual award of $1,000.

Additionally, donors may pledge a series of gifts over a period of time.  The scholarship becomes endowed when the fund reaches enough to allow for an award. For example, a donor might give $5,000 a year for four years as a pledge to establish a $20,000 endowment.

For information concerning endowed scholarships, contact the College's Director of Development, John Cougher at (405) 325-1266 or by email at jcougher@ou.edu.
